"Race, Slavery and the Civil War: The Tough Stuff of American History and Memory," a conference coming to Norfolk State University, will feature panelists talking about events leading up to the war and the conflict itself, then discussions with the audience.

Dog owners bite back on dog park fees
As of Jan. 1, dog owners who visit the parks at Chesapeake City Park or Western Branch Community Center must fork over $10 to the city for a year’s membership. Additional dogs from the same family are $5. Or a pass for a one-time visit is $5.
